Sloe gin

Ingredients

  • 500g ripe sloes
  • 250g sugar
  • 1 litre cheap gin

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly rinse the sloes and leave them to dry. Prick them with a toothpick.
  2. Add sloes, sugar and gin into a mason jar. Shake once per day for the first week then leave in a cool dark place for 2–3 months.
  3. Using muslin/cheese cloth, strain the sloe gin and store in a clean bottle. Keep the sloes for use in sloe gin chocolate.

To make sloe gin chocolate, squeeze the stones out of the soaked sloes and then mix them into melted dark chocolate.
